Analytics Capstone Spring 2025

HAGC

Mai 5, 2025 - Jun 21, 2025

This capstone project is part of the Business Analytics (BAPG), Health Analytics (HAGC), and Crime Analytics (CAGC) graduate certificate programs at Cambrian College. The students will participate in various projects involving different types of data, ranging from qualitative data gathering, quantitative data and analysis, technical projects, or other projects that align with their skillsets. This could include but is not limited to large and/or complex data, gathering data, conducting program evaluation, development and deployment of surveys, help with funding applications, create dashboards and analysis, and work with various types of data to support decisions using analytics in a wide array of industries. Students can research, apply analytical models, methodologies, and tools learned in the program to analyze data. Faculty mentors will work with students to ensure the capstone project reflects, and encompasses, best practices for big data analytics and project management.

Software Product Development (University of Toronto)

CSC301

Mai 14, 2025 - Aou 6, 2025

Please read the details of the link below completely and follow the steps specified there to submit proposals. Given the high number of requests, requests submitted on Riipen will not be reviewed. All details and questions are discussed in the document below. Program Overview and Partnership Invitation Document This program has been run for 17 cohorts over 7 years and with 200+ partners. We work with 30+ partners every term. We will not be able to respond to messages on Riipen. Quick summary: students take this course to develop a software application (web, mobile or desktop) for various use cases. Previous examples include mobile apps for finding travelers in a specific community and web-based application for connecting a non-profit to volunteers. If the project information interests you, please go through the steps mentioned in the document. After reviewing 300+ proposals, we have created a thorough process to streamline the process for all involved. We will not be able to accept requests on Riipen as the proposals need to be chosen by the students when the term begins.

Dear Alex and Yingchao, I would like to thank the Saskatchewan team for the work they did this semester designing the SLEDSS personalized profile assessments. The team was able to overcome a variety of challenges to meet the project requirements in a very short period of time. They were especially responsive in addressing the design feedback that I provided each week. While we are very pleased with the work done by the full team, we would like to offer special thanks to Ton Nguyen and Huynh Nhi Do for their efforts to guide and support the team. Because this was a team project, I did not have a lot of visibility into each person's contribution, but I will provide feedback below on specific deliverables that can be matched to individual students. The following identifies the project deliverables I proposed on January 21st: 1. A document that defines the Kin-Keepers Common Look and Feel User Interface based on the target user, namely the Baby Boomer generation. a. Feedback Score: 0 b. The Team did not produce a document for the Common Look and Feel User Interface, however, this objective was achieved with the design template based on the home page and the Socialization Assessment, as described below. 2. A Template for UI Design that is subsequently applied to the SLEDSS tools a. Feedback Score: 10 b. As noted above, the Socialization Assessment became the template for the other assessment tools to follow and functioned as the common look and feel user interface document. c. The interface design for this component of SLEDSS was a team effort. The objective was to establish the common look and feel of the interfaces for all the assessments. We spent a few weeks focused on this design and the team did a good job addressing my feedback. d. I believe that Ton Nguyen and Huynh Nhi Do deserve a lot of credit for establishing the common look and feel of the user interface, and also for leading the team throughout the project 3. Design digital tools for the following six SLEDSS Assessments based on Paper and Pencil tests previously identified by another project team at Cape Breton University. a. Socialization Assessment Tool: Score 10  This was the first tool designed by the team, as noted above.  The first delivery was made on February 10th.  A new SLEDSS logo was delivered on February 18th  Final template delivered on March 3rd. b. Stress Assessment Tool: Score 10  Initial delivery on 2/24/25; designed by Ton Nguyen.  Ton put in extra effort to get a draft version of the Stress tool designed as the team was prepping for mid-terms, including an update of the Stress tool on 3/3/24. The team then took a break from the project to focus on mid-terms. c. Diet Assessment Tool: Score 10  Initial delivery on 3/17/25; design by Huynh Nhi Do  Feedback on this design included updates to the BMI test and the need to use pictures of the elderly, not younger people. All comments were addressed in the following update. d. Exercise Assessment Tool: Score 10  Initial delivery on 3/17/25, designed by Khoi Tran  Feedback on this design included the need to follow the common template design and simplify the user interface. All comments were addressed in the following update. e. Sleep Assessment Tool: Score 10  Initial delivery on 3/17/25, I believe that this was designed by Juwon Anjorin.  We switched to a different paper/pencil test because the one identified by the Cape Breton team was not sufficient. Similar comments were provided regarding adherence to the common design template. f. Learning Assessment Tool: Score 7  Initial and final delivery of this tool occurred on 3/24/25.  This design came right at the end of the project. It followed the common design template but we did not have time to discuss any changes. 4. Stretch deliverable: re-implement one or more tools using the new interface design. The team did not have the opportunity to implement any of the assessment tools, however, I did show them the preliminary implementation done by our developer working on the SLEDSS project. Kin-Keepers agrees to conclude the project. We are happy with the work that the team completed and are in the process of implementing the designs they produced. The only drawback of their work was that they changed design tools at the beginning of the project, from Figma to Canva. I was not aware of this change until the end of the project. This change meant we had to manually implement the design when it would have been much faster to generate front-end code using Figma. That being said, I believe the team earned an overall score of 9 out of 10, with a special mention of the leadership provided by Ton Nguyen. I will send a separate email about individual participation in the AI Agentic services we are focusing on next. As I mentioned before, this will be individual learning for those who want to participate. We are using the following free online training which I think would be very beneficial to your students.
